Women in Public Life 2015-2016

Women in Public Life 2015-2016

Women are under-represented at a senior level in the Northern Ireland Civil Service and across public, regulatory, advisory and specialist bodies. One of the core aims of Politics Plus is to address this imbalance and strengthen the role of women in political and public life through the programmes we deliver.

Our initiatives have been specifically designed to address many of the barriers to participation that have been identified and build collaborative relationships between women.

About the Programme

The Women in Public Life Programme is designed to assist participants by increasing their range of competencies. It will also encourage them to develop strategies and build networks in order to enhance the influence of women in public sector organisations. In doing so, it will make a contribution towards addressing female underrepresentation in senior public life and improve engagement across all tiers of public service delivery.

The programme will support senior women engaged in public service delivery in terms of overcoming the challenges that they face by:

  • Creating a platform that enables them to work across public services and organisational boundaries;
  • Encouraging them to make their concerns heard; and
  • Advising on them on how to participate in decision-making processes and redefine public priorities.

Through this programme, participants will learn how to leverage their positions to reshape outcomes and enhance their personal impact.
