About the Event
Politics Plus, in collaboration with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, are delighted to welcome a delegation of Political Representatives and Secretariat Staff from the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, on 5th and 6th September 2016.
On 6 December 2015, there was a referendum on moving the governance of the Republic of Armenia from a semi-presidential to an entirely parliamentary system of government. The referendum was passed. Therefore, the parliament is now in the process of passing legislation to enact the new constitution. This includes a new election law, political party law and new law on Rules of Procedure. The Rules of Procedure law is due to be passed by November this year. Therefore, the delegation will visit the Northern Ireland Assembly to gain insight into best practice surrounding the Rules of Procedure.
The delegation will meet with Senior Secretariat Staff, Members of the Northern Ireland Assembly, the Chief Executive and the Speaker.
We are looking forward to building knowledge exchange networks with the National Assembly of Armenia and contributing to legislative best practice on an international scale.
